Common Greetings

Salutations (Greetings)

  • Hello – Bonjour

  • Hi – Salut

  • Good morning – Bonjour

  • Good afternoon – Bon après-midi (less commonly used than “Bonjour”)

  • Good evening – Bonsoir

  • Nice to meet you – Enchanté(e) (use “Enchanté” if you’re male, “Enchantée” if female)

  • How are you? – Comment allez-vous ? (formal) / Ça va ? (casual)

Se présenter (Introducing Yourself)

  • My name is… – Je m’appelle…

  • I’m… – Je suis…

  • Let me introduce myself – Permettez-moi de me présenter

  • I work as… / I’m a… – Je travaille comme… / Je suis…

  • I’m from… – Je viens de…

  • I live in… – J’habite à…

Poser des questions (Asking About Someone)

  • What is your name? – Comment vous appelez-vous ? (formal) / Tu t’appelles comment ? (casual)

Rule - S ubject +is/are/am +verb (ing) Examples- I am writing a previous report. She is working on a new project. They are observing the machines. People are using more AI these days. Type Structure Examples Affirmative + Subject+am/is/are+verb (ing) I am preparing the monthly report. He is meeting a client right now.
