Read opinions of Sophie and Alex about Brands

Sophie

Sophie is a project manager who is obsessed with brands. For her, wearing famous labels like Nike, Gucci, or Louis Vuitton is not just about clothes, but about identity. She believes that a brand represents quality, style, and social status. When she wears branded clothes, she feels more confident and respected. For Sophie, brands are more than material objects; they are symbols of success and personal expression. She loves the idea that a logo or a slogan can communicate a lifestyle.

Alex

Alex, on the other hand, has a completely different perspective. He does not care about brands or material possessions. For him, clothes and objects only need to be practical, comfortable, and durable. He believes that personality, kindness, and intelligence are more important than the label on a shirt or a pair of shoes. Instead of spending money on luxury brands, Alex prefers to invest in experiences such as traveling, reading, or spending time with friends. He thinks happiness is not connected to logos but to meaningful moments in life.

Debate : Do brands create happiness or just illusions?

In my opinion, brands only give people short-term happiness. When you buy a famous brand, like a new pair of shoes or a bag, you feel excited and happy at first. You enjoy showing it to your friends or just owning it. However, this happiness does not last long. Soon, you start looking for something new, or you compare your things with other brands or products. This creates a feeling of wanting more and more.Because of this, I think the happiness from brands is only an illusion. It makes you feel good for a short time, but it does not create real or lasting happiness. True happiness comes from experiences, relationships, and personal satisfaction, not from products or logos.

Culture Connect: Learn, Share, Understand

Culture Connect  When we learn a new language, we don’t just learn new words — we learn a new way of seeing the world. In this blog, I want to help you explore culture through English, and also learn how to share your own experiences with confidence. I often meet people who struggle to explain cultural differences in business meetings or at work. Sometimes, the challenge comes from vocabulary; other times, it comes from not fully understanding the cultural context. This can make communication difficult — even when you have great ideas to share. One student even told me: “I have better ideas to share, but because of the language barrier, I feel frustrated.” Moments like this show how important it is to have the right words and expressions to communicate clearly. My goal here is to give you useful expressions, vocabulary, and communication tips so you can talk about your culture, understand others, and feel comfortable expressing cultural differences. Together, we will learn h...
